Join a local volunteer group
Each of us has been given a gift by God and a choice as to how we will use that gift. If you would like to use your gifts to help the children of Bolivia, why not consider joining a Regional Amistad Council (RAC)? These organized groups of volunteers use their creativity to coordinate church functions, mission trips to Bolivia, fundraising drives, and any other activities that the members of your community might enjoy. We currently have RACs in Dallas, Houston, Nashville, and Metropolitan New York, but we look forward to launching new RACs across the country. So if you don’t live near one of our existing locations, please read below!
Establish a local volunteer group
As mentioned above, Amistad Mission currently has four organized volunteer groups, which we call Regional Amistad Councils (RACs), and we’re eager to welcome many more communities to our mission. RACs may be based in churches or composed of individual believers within a specified region, and locations may be urban, suburban or rural. The main purpose of a RAC is to make new friends on behalf of the mission. If you like people, you’ll love being part of a RAC!
Help local churches plan an event
Three times each year, Amistad Mission invites local congregations to gather in prayer or to implement activities on behalf of the children in our care. With your help, even more churches will have the opportunity to be blessed by these unique outreaches. Whether the congregations in your area prefer to organize a prayer walk at Easter, to help their youth plan a back-to-school event in September, or to host an alternative giving drive in December, you will be given all of the tools you’ll need to help them succeed!
Represent Amistad Mission at regional conferences
Periodically throughout the year, Amistad Mission is given the chance to participate in conferences in various areas of the country. Unfortunately, with such a small staff, we don’t have the ability to attend every gathering, and so we miss out on many opportunities. However, through your participation, that can change. If you enjoy making new friends, speaking to groups, and sharing ideas, this may be the right option for you!
Work with the local media
Amistad Mission has an important story to tell. You can help spread the word, while having tons of fun, by building relationships with local newspapers, radio stations, and television stations. We will provide you with everything you’ll need to distribute press releases and public service announcements, to pitch articles, and to develop your own region-specific media kits. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who is outgoing and organized, whether or not you have experience or training in public relations!
Pray for our children
Prayer is one of the most precious gifts that one believer can give to another. If prayer can move mountains, it can certainly change the lives of the people we serve. To learn more about Amistad Mission’s Prayer Friend program, please click here. The life you change may be your own!
